In most cases only the first downloadable item listed below for the relevant
platform is needed. The QMClient components are separately downloadable for all
platforms for situations where the client and server are different.
If you are upgrading from a previous release, simply install the new version
over the top of the old version.

To receive an automatic notification by email when a new version
of QM is available, visit the
Email Subscription page. Notifications are sent for major and minor
releases (see below) but not usually for fix releases.
Every QM release is identified by a number such as 3.4-11 where this
comprises the major release, the minor release and the build number.
Major releases correspond to the introduction of significant new functionality.
Although we try to avoid incompatible changes, it may be necessary to
recompile application software or to run a file conversion tool when the major
release number changes.
Minor releases correspond to the introduction of significant new functionality
with a lower internal impact than a major release. Applications developed on
previous releases will usually continue to run without recompilation or
conversion of files. Programs that make use of new features may not be portable
back to previous releases.
The build number, reset at each minor release, identifies the specific product
build. It is our policy to issue new versions very frequently to include new
features or to fix problems reported by users. Whilst users do not need to
take every release, it is recommended that users should upgrade to the latest
build periodically or when a feature of interest appears in the
What's New page.

the licence carefully before downloading the software to ensure that you do
not accidentally breach its terms which could result in you having to make
your own developments open source too. Source is currently only released for
the Linux version of the product and may be very out of date compared to the
commercial product. In common with all open source software released under the
GPL, the source code is supplied with absolutely no warranty and no support.
