Introduction

The SAVING keyword used in a query processor SELECT operation creates a select list based on the content of a named field in the data file being processed.

   SELECT SALES SAVING PART.NO
For compatibility with other multivalue products, when the field being saved is multivalued, only the first value is saved. With the above example, this would be the first part number from each order record in the SALES file. This behaviour is likely to result in incomplete data in the select list.

The MULTIVALUED Keyword

QM supports a MULTIVALUED qualifier to the SAVING clause

   SELECT SALES SAVING MULTIVALUED PART.NO
With this qualifier, all of the values in the multivalued PART.No field are added to the select list.
